Hi. I'm in the library having a COMPUTER lesson on HOW TO look for books in the BIomed library, which is ENORMOUS. we need WEEKS OF TUTORIALS just to look for books. on the other hand, this gives me a chance to finally check my mail and post this blog BECAUSE my internet in the hostel is down!

The internet in the hostel is not only down, it's an exhorbitant $20 for 200mb. whew.

but the hostel is nice. had the second day of lectures - all we've covered in two days are introduction and the HISTORY of australian medicine and the different disciplines in medicine. The professor is a physician and oncologist and book and opera reviewer and also a broadcast journalist.

I think i quite like this medicine course.

Pictures will be coming up soon when the net in the hostel comes on.

SUCK THAT!!!! SUCK THAT, REAL!!!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I've been in Sydney for about 27 hours now. It seems like ages. I've been doing so many things, been so busy...

but in between points, I find that I'm missing Singapore already.

I know it's pretty girly to do that, but I really do. I miss EVERYTHING. especially the people.

I miss you.

I miss you.

I miss YOU.

The first thing I was SUPPOSED to do in Australia was to register with the ISS. Instead, I went out shopping to buy myself a top and a skirt. The cashier was nice enough to include a bag which made the REAL girls go OOH! nice bag!

There will be NO pictures.

Ok that's because I'm using the common room com, and my room's internet is still not up and running, and I only have a PALTRY 200MB internet quota. So when I'm all set up, get ready to enjoy. Keep reading. When you read these words, I feel strangely comforted that a quarter of the way across the world, my real family waits and prays for me.

The big gaggle of freshers from new college strutted down the street ( i slinked and slouched and tried not to be seen) all of them girls. Well, the girls were girls and the guys were girls, or doing very bad impressions of them. An Australian turned to me and said, "Welcome to Sydney, mate."

I miss you.

it's all been a haze,
recovering from army daze,
running an administrative maze,
trying to look for people,
to sign my clearance sheet.

It's really quite fun,
to get it all done,
it's like collecting pokemon.
Gotta get them all!

But once it's complete,
my dear clearance sheet,
it's rather great to greet,
my freedom with a smile.

but in a short while,
i'll,
be flying off.

Flight details: 12.30am Tuesday, so that's MONDAY night, I'll be at the airport T2 from ten plus pm to 11.30plus pm.... I know it's a school night and many of you are in camp or are tied up (it's a MONDAY night for crying out loud!) so it's ok if you all can't come...this is just for those who are remotely interested.

today, i turn to the last page of a chapter in my life. i sit by my bed, typing with one hand, delicately poised between the old world and the next. i feel like i'm on a unicycle on a tight-rope, and i don't know how to cycle.

the retail fatigue has passed. Gathering fatigue is in vogue now. The zeitgeist of the week. So much so that i haven't had time to pack, and it's my faithful and helpful mommy who's been pushing me around to pack. Thanks! I feel rather zombie-ish, but it's all cool.

i'M suffering from retail fatigue. It feels a lot like happy guilt, the bloated sort of feeling after a buffet.

Steelers 21 - Seahawks 10

At the end of the first quarter, the stats read

Seahawks 76 passing yards, 13/17 completions, and 30+yards rushing.

The steelers, a pitiful 1 passing yard, 1/5 completions, 14 yards rushing, no first downs and 1 interception.

This goes to show that you don't have to be good to win games.

The steelers got away with a bad call - the ref wrongfully called pass interference in the endzone against the seahawks, and took away a touchdown. Then Matt Hasselbeck, after making 155 passes in the last three playoff games WITHOUT a SINGLE interception, throws up 1 interception that is returned for 80+yards and leads to a steelers touchdown.

Shawn Alexander of the seahawks was imperious, averaging 5+ yards a rush, but Parker of the steelers made ONE good break for 50+ yards and a touchdown.

Then the steelers were gifted with a wrongfully called touchdown from a rush by the sophomore QB of the steelers, Big Ben. I personally don't think the ball grazed the line.

What a game. What a game. What a damn disappointment.

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been two years plus since the day we began
booked into tekong with nada and clan
we took our oath and said our pledge
we took a deep breath and went over the hedge
we got our green outfits and our head shave
we lost our parents and had to be brave
we sang our songs and pumped our legs
we swore and survived even in the dregs

we were in B - M - T -C,
yeah we were in B - M - T -C
everyone went to the B - M - T - C
we're gonna chiong sua in B - M - T - C
we shaved our heads bald,
we had to stand tall
in pulau pulau tekong!

Then we went for our parade in the pouring rain,
for our little moment of fame
got our posting orders in a week.
We were happy and proud and as high as a cloud,
ready to take more flak.

Then we got posted to.... SISPEC!

Oh it was hell in the jungle for many days
we walked around in a terrible daze
collapsed like flies in the jungle heat
and our boots marched wearily to the jungle beat
as we suffered and toiled
and got dirty and soiled
in the mud
mud
MUD.

It's been half a year, and we're a quarter done
so far it's been no fun.
training and training is still
to
comE!

We got posted out, some of us,
we had to take a really big bus.
to bring us to

Sungei Gedong Camp

the end OF THE WORLD!
it was in lim chu kang
near chua chu kang,
near the cemeteries and pig farms!
Back to training, back to training
training in the sun and when it was raining
we learnt about armour and all about tanks,
we learnt how to chiong and to guard our flanks,
we learnt how to stay awake all night long,
we learnt how to clean arms singing to songs,
we learnt how to be brothers in arms.

Soon we headed to ROC,
to taiwan across the sea.
to do more training and hopefully catch some babes.
We had a ball of a time,
a song and a rhyme,
with training training training!
and worse of all, it was, you guessed it.
Raining
again.
It was so muddy, so red and muddy,
everything was so wet and dirty
we all didn't bathe for days.
but finally we ended,
we shopped till we dropped,
and many taiwanese babes we befriended.

We finished the course, we finished our schools
we were headed to the big bad world with Unit rules!
we went to 46, the garang battalion,
to the coy of bronco, the raging stallion.
we went through shit once more
more and more and more
and finally, we went to INDIA

India was a desert, and it was really hot
and it was cold at night.
we trained some more there trained a lot more there,
we trained till we were right.
The indian army knocked my tank -
they smashed me in the flank
and ripped a gash in my side!
it was one hell of a ride.
We had our bad times
we had our good times
and in the end, the good outweighed the bad.
we couldn't be very sad.

Then coming back to singapore
there's more,
I went for R - U - G - B - Y!
which was the best time if you know why!
we played rugby everyday
tossed the ball every which way
and finally we lost the finals.
And back to the Unit i came.

Then we had BPT 1 and BPT 2,
ATEC 1 and ATEC 2 too.
I was an umpire
as events transpired,
and followed the section around
until we were tired.
everywhere they went we had to go too
too

too!!!

Then after atec, we thought we could rest, take five,
but no, there was NDP 2005.
we burn 13 weekends, saturday and sunday,
saturday and sunday
and came back on monday,
for moooooore.
It wasn't any fun,
it wasn't fun at all,
and my turret took a fall!

After NDP,
we went for AOAC
which was more outfield
more outfield.
and after that, we finally,
finally took a break.

And to take the cake
we're about to
O
R
D!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

whew. this is hard work.
really died at the last few stanzas. hahahhaha
maybe it's just cuz i'm old n dumb.

how could i leave out my sisister on the previous previous post????

I are stupiderestest!

an ode to sisister naomi.

naomi is funny
naomi is sweet
naomi can play softball
and doesn't have stinky feet
she can wield a racket,
and was a ballkid too,
she's one tidy packet
of doodly doodly doo.
Naomi is smart,
she is very clever,
as sharp as a dart,
and could have written this ditty better.

satisfied?
