don't ever drink a bottleful of cough syrup called Bisolvon.

even when it doesn't say it is a laxative:

it still is.

gotta rush to the toilet now.

and still coughing! gaaaaah.

It's a bit perplexing that the Malaysian Party was better than the Singapore one. But I don't really mind! Good crowd and good friends and good music and good locale!

The usual Sydney Uni crowd (I'm NOT from sydney uni! just happen to know people who know people.) My favourite ah beng is 2nd from right, and it's the second obfuscation of the night when he's 1)dyed his hair 2)likes fast cars 3)speaks like one 4)likes techno and trance 5)bets on soccer but he says he's NOT an ahbeng? hmmmm.

Warning: Good looking people ahead!

Finished off the night with pancakes at the Rocks.

BOYS NIGHT OUT ON FRIDAY NIGHT!!!

Steaks at the Regent (which i skimped on and skipped: ate dinner at college) and then the footie match between the warratahs and auckland blues - which was pretty one sided. Half the all blacks and none of the skill! how frustrating it was to watch a good aussie team exact revenge on new zealand for winning the commonwealth 7s... but it was fantastic atmosphere - 33,000 screaming fans and a hazy drizzle...fast paced rugby...massive scoreline....

only thing lacking was a good hard match. tsk.

this guy below is a speedy touch player.

WOW...i wish singapore had this!

I was going to post something, but...i'm going swimming.

Some pics from the singapore students association party last saturday night. While waiting in the snaking queue, fire engines pulled up to the sidewalk and firemen dashed into the building. there was nothing wrong.

This is a random lowlight shot which looks kinda cool.

It's a small small world. It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small, small world. Met Jonathan from army! he's in newcastle doing architecture and he came all the way down to sydney for the SSA party. Look VANNY i'm wearing the t-shirt you gave me! haha...

Childhood friend who never ever lets me forget about the time i.... well. it's embarrassing enough. why put it up here?

another lowlight shot: despite the poor planning and lousy locale, i really liked the groovy retro dance floor!

Since i've been in sydney, i've killed 8 cockroaches, 7 on campus and 3 in my room. This calls for WAR!!!! i came up with op order charts and went to stockpile on weapons of pest destruction and turned my drawer into an armskote of pest busting weapons! I'm about to go all georgie bush on the cockroachs' asses!!! GROWWWL!

Wow. The week really flew. Interviewed a scientist on Monday - we thought she was going to be a doctor so we prepared questions for doctors! But turns out she's more of a scientist. And we had to wing the questions but it wasn't too bad. Then on monday night it was scotty's birthday so we took him to reggie's and coined him to the max (that involves dropping a coin into his drink when he isn't looking so he downs it) and he got extremely well...drunk.

And i had a beer myself too - because:

On monday, it was my ACTUAL ORD date!!!! how awesome is that? I mean, i've been done for a month but it was just fantastic to know that - even if i haven't come out to Sydney i'd be done as well. ORD!!! woohoo! congrats to JJJ and JX. I'll cherish those memories we made for ourselves - AI course, 4ntm, india, BPT, ATEC, Jinghui, NDP, PS course...rugby...soccer at the parade sq. winning 11 and dynasty warriors... BREAKFAST at canteen! and soc...and ippt... and yeah. It was awesome, mates. There were the highlights and the lowlights, but having the two of you around really helped. Thanks for putting up with all my crappiness at times: Those times I didn't bother or was just plain lazy - thanks for helping me with all that stuff! You guys are the best. And DAMIEN! don't worry!!!! your turn will come too! You can see the light at the end of the tunnel lor! soon it'll be your day to pick up your pink IC and say goodbye to the.... well...hahaha you know who.

And on MONDAY night as well, i played touch for the college...my team got trashed upside down and left right and center as well...had too many people who never played touch before. But it's all good. THink i'm improving a bit. or at least, i hope i am!

Tuesday i saw dead people.

Wednesday i had my presentation. I thought i did horribly but i think my scenario group was really kind and forgiving. I rushed through the presentation...and a girl drew a little train on the feedback form and said, "I thought you were trying to catch a train!" But it was good.

Thursday i saw my first ever patient. Didn't really take history from him yet: haven't learnt how, but just spoke to him. Man. It was really intense. He literally broke down and cried! I didn't make him cry, just that he had all these emotions bottled up in him and he was like: I'm ok i'm ok...and then he started sobbing. wow. No one teaches you what to do in a situation like this. So i did what i'm good at doing: I played it by ear. Well... it went alright in the end.

PICTURES!!!!

This is St Paul's in kogarah, the church i'm attending. Vannie, you'd love this. It's all stained glass and wooden pews. And the people are warm and friendly and have really bad eyesight cuz they keep trying to feed me: HELLO??!! can you not see i'm fat enough?

THursday night was the night of my first salsa lesson and also the medical faculty pubcrawl. This was in the bus.

And this was at the 2nd pub in which Porshee was already crazy. I kept drinking water and people thought i was downing mixers. "don't drink so fast, man! there're lot's of pubs left to go!" "It's alright, mate, i drink this stuff like i drink water!" heh.

THis was in the bus back.

This was a random shot i took that i think turned out really well. A steady hand does wonders for a low-light shot.

I'm in the pathology museum it's pretty cool don't have much time this is a short post i miss Singpapore and the people and even the crappy weather and the food and most of all my family and my church but

it's all good! i like sydney i like the laid back way everyone accomplishes everything with ease and so quickly and effectively and i had a 30 min group meeting that would have taken 3hours in Singapore and in two meetings we're going to finish the project on the third and in Singapore it would have taken two months and 10 meetings it's so quick here everyone is obliging.

seeya!

Today, i had proper chinese food. We went down to the "Dwagon Seeeefood Rest-er-raunt" in Market city above paddy's - dim sum! dian xin! and over here, it's called yum cha! The chinese did our best to explain to the caucasians what we were eating. "Chicken feet? This is chicken feet??" and "Pork dumpling wrapped in lotus leaves" and "Barbequed pork bun!"

YUM CHA!!!

This guy just has his pants down for no reason. Wierd.

Fifi's party! it's here 21st, and to be nice, she even invited li'l ol me! woohoo!

These are the piccies from the formal dinner.

These are the Singaporean guys.

THis was my table of blackheads. The guy on the ri ight just shoved his way into the picture - I happened to be the only guy in the table of 6 gals cuz my guy friends had late lectures and couldn't come. Man. I got turned into an honorary gal for the night. Ugh.

Finally getting some nerd action on man. I reckon i'm gonna get a couple more posters, hey.

Getting some asian action on too, making a stand against dirt in my room. Some dude tracked in grass ALL OVER MY ROOM man you should have seen me making my mad face trying to look happy and hospitable.

I look out of the window, smell the eucalyptus and feel the soft afternoon breeze on my cheek, the warm green grass colour my eyes and I hear the soft comforting sound of the dryer in the background. My textbooks are open and my laptop is glowing in the background. I can hear the youthful shouting from the oval, mixing with the sunshine and bird calls.

My anatomy textbook is open and all I'm thinking of is the dead man, ripped apart in many pieces, lying still as a corpse on the table in front of me, reeking of formaldehyde and pity. As in a dream, and this may well be a dream, I gently squeeze my fingers into the cavities of his body, exploring his innermost parts that even the dead man himself never explored. His eyes are a pale blue and unseeing, and he has a day-old stubble on his chin, which has been split into two.

It's a lovely day.

Hi guys!!!! due to my fantastical magical computer prowess, i managed to hack into the dos of blogger and rewrite their program, so now i can put up pictures of medcamp toga party!!! Woot!

Despite the abundance of free alcohol, I totally wasted my $165 i paid for med camp cuz I didn't drink any alcohol, according to Porshee, who got smashed and ended up toga-less. I would put up his pics but this is a PG 13 blog so...

This here below are Medstick friends, they're all medsticks cuz they're medicine students and they stick together cuz once a medicine student meets another med student they all ignore everyone else and start talking together about medicine.

These are the greek doctors all ready to recite the hippocratic oath and all ready to row and boogie. Below are Helena (troy), Porshee, Me and (Lilo) Lillian.

That isn't a flying saucer, it's the tip of someone's bumbling finger over the lens. Gotta remember to wipe it! Porshee, Eun-Ji, Me and Helena!

Me and two malaysian australians, Angelina and Kimberly!

The Medcamp Singaporean Association, Claire, Porshee and Me. Before our heads were bedecked by olive leaves.

Nikki, a south african babe who's super gung-ho - i have to give her a post to herself - sarennya, porshee, helena, clair, me and lillian.

The bar behind us served free-flow beers, cruisers, breezers and champagnes.

That was what the $165 went to - and I wasted it.

Ah well. At least I know a quarter of the faculty now.

AAAGGGHHH!!!!!

Wanted to post up some awesome piccies of a toga party i went to during medcamp at Narrabeen (which wasn't half bad, hey) but somehow someway blogger keeps blocking me from it.

Grrrr...

On a good note, got my gym pass - you'll get to see the giganormous gym i'll be spending my free mornings in. It's awesome, eh, matey?

someone told me i was really ossified because i wore a bush hat to class and i speak with a bad american accent.

Dude....si beh deh sia. Wah si hokkien peng.... song boh?

Still using the com in the common room. Well, it's been a week and a few days now! and my room is now all nicely up and comfy. It's not much, but let's take a tour into my hostel room....

This is the outside of the group room. There are 8 groups on each floor, each with 8 guys or 8 girls. This door leads to the common room from the courtyard.

THis is the common room, with balloons from o week still pinned up. It's a cess pool.

This is the corridor that leads to my room. It's where ppl stomp and run and yell at each other and have phone book fights that involve the chucking of phone books at one another. It's also where New Collegians wander up and down to the toilet wearing nothing but towels or boxers. My room is the open door you see.

This is my room. Welcome! The white thing hanging on that door is my lab coat. That's my poser aussie bush hat hanging from the wall. And the green thing is my army towel. Lots of clothes hanging off the rack. THat's alright though - still neat.

THis is still my room. My shoe rack, and the red boots on the green mat. My rugby ball. My persian rug i got from india.

This is my desk and the window. and the batman poster sharon-rose gave me. see, i DID put it up.

This eucalyptus tree is outside my window. Overlooks tennis courts and the village green, a large circle pitch for anything. Eucalyptus tree smells great. Just worried about insects, et al.

Close up of desk and battie poster.

My bed and the over hanging shelves. empty shelves. Picture is a collage of family done by li'l sis. Thanks!

Bed - they provide linen and pillows. Brought my most valuable present from army though. A present got at the christmas gift exchange. This is the cupboard.

And the floor of the cupboard.

This is the bathroom, with two sinks.

This is the shower.

THis is the toilet bowl and skeletor.

This is a friend's room. Pah.

I had a cupcake for supper.

And I never knew how much a phone call could rock and suck at the same time.

missing Singapore

and more.

More retro Singapore posts:

Hey Debbie!

GO ARSENAL!!!! Let's do a liverpool.

The two of the most important girls in my life! Hey cheh! Hey mei!

Roy, thanks so much. Thanks for the Rugby sevens ticks and for everything else after!

I'm going retro for this post - church friends in Singapore.

Hey Eunice! This is for ya!

Ok back to sydney stuff and away from boring singapore stuff. JUST KIDDING! posting up these pictures is making my eyes moist.

THis is an awesome thai food place near my hostel.

And if you tilt your head to your right, this is actually OUR busker from oweek balancing a guitar on his head as he plays a guitar. DOn't be alarmed!!! the ground in sydney is perfectly level.

Riding the cannon! more brokeback mountain innuendo.

On a ferry having a rare break from humiliation.

There's an exchange student in New College from North dakota. SHe was telling us that she knew a lot of cowboys. I asked,

"Are they gay?"

...

More pics. THis is from the orientation week. It takes place on a hot and crowded saturday where we run around sydney doing the craziest stuff - climbing onto bus shelters and stripping, spanking strangers, dressing up in lingerie, jumping into fountains and generally making a fool of yourself. As the aussies would say - it was heaps of fun.

welcome to sydney.

The guy in a white shirt is a random busker who we got to tag around with us to provide us with music as we did random stunts! This is in Sydney's CBD.

Cooling off in a fountain at hyde park.

Sporting formal execs pose for a pic!

Trying on dirty lingerie at paddy's.

I've always wanted to do this but never did in Singapore.

Dead ants in the middle of the road. Watch out for traffic!

Every road we crossed we crossed it like this.

At paddy's market again, where i went all brokeback mountain-like.

finally, i can upload my pics. i still don't have the internet though. just that the much overused and abused common room com is finally free so i can enjoy the free internet.

More photos : These pics were taken at cosy bay the weekend before i left - hey Wenwei! hey Pak and hey zhu! I won't tell you were cosy bay is cuz I don't want you going there ruining the scenery.

These are the pics taken the day before i left - thanks for sending me off, guys and gals. It was really something to me. It was a bittersweet departure. Aw how corny can i get?

I'm in between classes, the only time i can seem to access the internet. Medicine so far has been anything but - that's alright though, it's great! my scenario group seems pretty nice and pretty - heh, and everyone's geared up to do some real reading and studying.

RIGHT. the feeling of being a token asian around has passed now school's started - UNSW is 60% asian at least...

Gotta rush off to class now. Seeya
